Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Tuesday, inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Marine Corps in south China's Guangdong Province where he emphasized the significance of accelerating the transformation and enhancing the operational capabilities of the Marine Corps in a bid to develop a strong, responsive and multi-functional force. The president also emphasized the significance of research on both theoretical and practical issues, in order to forge a way ahead for the Marine Corps with Chinese characteristics. He also stressed the necessity of strengthening the Marine Corps' strategic design to meet the demands of national defense and military modernization.
