Netherlands PM: Partial lockdown needed to slow COVID-19 spread

The Dutch government announced a new round of measures to slow the spread of coronavirus on Tuesday, including limits on the size of social gatherings and a ban on the sale of alcohol in the evening.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the measures will go into effect on Wednesday.

An elderly woman in the Netherlands has become the first reported death after getting reinfected with COVID-19, the media reported on Tuesday.

The Netherlands has confirmed 7,393 new cases in the past 24 hours, the highest number on a single day in months, hitting 190,000 in the total number of confirmed cases.
