Much of Shenzhen's reforms are traced to the efforts of the late leader Deng Xiaoping. The city has experienced a massive transformation from a small fishing village to a high-tech hub. President Xi paid tribute to Deng at Shenzhen's Lianhuashan Park, where he laid flowers at Deng's statue.
