Shenzhen should continue to push the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said Chinese President Xi Jinping during the gathering to honor the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Wednesday.
The Greater Bay Area (GBA) is an important strategy of China, and Shenzhen is a major engine driving its development, he added.
Shenzhen should grab the historic opportunity presented by the GBA, said Xi, and push the three areas to link more smoothly in terms of rules and regulations. Local governments need to build regional railroads, allowing talents and goods to flow between them more efficiently, which will improve market integration.
The country will deepen the reform and opening-up of the Qianhai-Shenzhen-Hong Kong pilot cooperation zone and speed up the construction of a comprehensive national science center in the GBA to enhance coordination and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao.
The GBA's platform should be fully utilized to attract more young talents from Hong Kong and Macao to come to the region to study, work and build a life, providing them with a deeper and wider level of communication and understanding of each other.
