Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov steps down in bid to end crisis

Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov has resigned after days of unrest triggered by a disputed parliamentary election. Jeenbekov says he wanted to prevent further clashes between security forces and protesters, who have been demanding his removal from office. On Wednesday, Jeenbekov accepted parliament's choice of Sadyr Zhaparov as the new prime minister.
