Source patient of Qingdao's COVID-19 cluster discharged from hospital
One asymptomatic patient of COVID-19 in east China's Qingdao City was discharged from hospital on Saturday after recovery, the city's health commission said on Sunday.
The man, surnamed Chen, is one of the two port workers who were traced to be the source of a small cluster of COVID-19 infections in the city.
Both of them tested positive on September 24. While Chen remained asymptomatic, the other port worker developed symptoms 20 days later, becoming the 13th confirmed case of the virus in the city since last week.
According to an initial report from the health commission, the two workers handled imported frozen seafood on September 19.
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Saturday detected and isolated SARS-CoV-2 found on the outer packaging of imported frozen cod in Qingdao, concluding that contact with packaging contaminated by living novel coronavirus could lead to infection.
