Global COVID-19 cases surpass 40 million: Johns Hopkins University

Global COVID-19 cases surpassed 40 million on Monday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The number of global COVID-19 deaths have reached 1.11 million as the virus continues to ravage the world.

The total number of cases in the U.S., India and Brazil combined accounted for more than half of the global cases, according to the tally.

The United States is the hardest-hit country in the world, with more than 8.1 million cases recorded nationwide and over 219,000 deaths.
