Luan Xin, deputy mayor of Qingdao, Shandong Province, stated on October 18 that Qingdao had reacted quickly to the epidemic, setting three records within five days.

More than 10 million tests were completed in Qingdao in five days, making it the first city in the world to accomplish such a feat, Luan said, adding that "patient zero" was identified within the time frame and nucleic acid testing (NAT) was conducted on all of Qingdao's residents. "I can say that there are no community infection risks in Qingdao," Luan said.
