Bad news for Juventus fans.

The Italian giants' Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo again tested positive for COVID-19, reported Marca on Thursday. That meant he is very likely to miss Juventus' game against Barcelona in Group G in the UEFA Champions League on October 28.

Ronaldo first tested positive for the coronavirus on October 13, and then he was ruled out of the Portuguese national team roster. He then returned to Turin for quarantine. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has shown no symptoms and posted photos of him training with a new hairstyle on Twitter. You can tell neither Ronaldo nor Juventus want him to miss the contest with Lionel Messi next Wednesday.

However, the latest positive test result may ruin all of that. According to UEFA rules, a player must prove that he tests negative for the coronavirus at least seven days earlier before he can be granted for participation in a Champions League game.

Wednesday was the deadline for or Juventus to submit the required medical paperwork to clear Ronaldo for the game. Ronaldo testing positive again meant Juventus could only pray that the UEFA will make an exception for him if, of course, he tests negative in the coming days.

Ronaldo and Messi became the greatest rivals locking horns in the football world after the Portuguese moved to Real Madrid in 2009. As Ronaldo left for Italy in 2018, it became less easy for the two to meet on the field. Meanwhile, judging by their ages, there may be increasingly fewer showdowns between them on the top stage.
