Brazil's death toll has reached 155,900 after 497 more patients died of the disease in the last 24 hours, the country's Ministry of Health said Thursday. Meanwhile, 24,858 more infections were reported, raising the nationwide count to 5,323,630, the ministry said.
India's coronavirus infections reached a total of 7.76 million, with 54,366 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours, taking confirmed cases to 8.3 million with 117,306 deaths.
Mexico reported on Thursday 6,612 additional cases and 479 more deaths for 874,171 cases and 87,894 deaths overall. Officials also said six of the country's 32 federal entities now are showing signs of new outbreaks, after previously bringing down the number of infections.
South Korea recorded 155 more cases as of midnight Friday local time compared to the previous 24 hours, raising the total number of infections to 25,698. Two more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 455. The total fatality rate stood at 1.77 percent.
Germany's confirmed cases increased by 11,242 to 403,291 and the reported death toll rose by 49 to 9,954. The country is making preparations to start vaccinations against the coronavirus before the end of the year, Bild daily reported on Friday.
