Over 308,000 swabbed for coronavirus test in Xinjiang's Kashgar

More than 308,000 people had been swabbed for the novel coronavirus test as of Sunday morning in Kashgar, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to local media.

The city-wide testing comes after one asymptomatic case was detected in the city on Saturday, a 17-year-old female villager.

Authorities said it's expected to take two days to test all the people in the city.

Moreover, local authorities have halted classes for day students at all primary and middle schools as well as kindergarten classes until October 30 to ensure the safety of minors. Classes will resume after finishing citywide testing, authorities added.
