The budget drawn up by the Chinese government in 1951 was worth just $2.2 billion. Even though only $200 million was set aside for the military, China was still prepared to send troops to Korea. Mao Zedong believed that if the DPRK fell, the Americans and South Koreans could attack China, so the provocations could not be ignored. Thus, Chinese people called it "resisting America, aiding Korea and protecting the motherland." This part of CGTN's documentary "Enemy on the doorstep: China's involvement in the Korean War" explains the origin of this call.
