A majority of voters in the United States see U.S. President Donald Trump as a COVID-19 superspreader and dishonest with the public about the outbreak back in February, according to news agency the Independent.

According to the results of a JL Partners-Independent survey, 64 percent of the respondents said the president should be held responsible for causing others to contract the novel coronavirus.

The respondents appeared concerned about Trump's judgment after he hosted an event in late September, honoring Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. The event is believed to be the cause of the COVID-19 outbreak in the White House that led to multiple officials contracting the virus, including Trump himself and first lady Melania Trump.

Almost half of the surveyed voters, about 44 percent, said they didn't believe the president was honest about the pandemic situation earlier this year, while 32 percent said they believe Trump was straightforward with the public.

The surveyed voters said they believe the voice on recordings made by Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward was that of Trump, who admitted on-record that the coronavirus is highly contagious and deadly while also publicly downplaying the severity of the pandemic.

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

"You just breathe the air, and that's how it's passed," Trump added during the phone call. "And so that's a very tricky one. That's a very delicate one. It's also more deadly than even your strenuous flu."
