The Chinese mainland on Tuesday registered 42 new COVID-19 cases, including 22 identified in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and 20 from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Wednesday.
A total of 38 new COVID-19 asymptomatic cases were also registered on Tuesday.
No deaths related to the disease were reported on Tuesday, the commission said. A total of 570 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.
The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:
Hong Kong: 5,308 (5,053 recoveries, 105 deaths)
Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)
Taiwan: 550 (502 recoveries, 7 deaths)
