Chinese mainland reports 25 new COVID-19 cases, 24 from overseas

On Thursday, the Chinese mainland registered 25 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, one local case from east China's Shandong Province and 24 from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Friday.

The local case is a 34-year-old female nurse in Shandong's Qingdao City, who worked for a hospital treating COVID-19 patients.

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday also registered 14 new asymptomatic cases, all in the Kashgar Prefecture. 

A total of 53 new COVID-19 asymptomatic cases were recorded in the Chinese mainland on Thursday, while 592 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. There were no deaths related to the disease reported on Thursday, the commission said.

The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 5,313 (5,073 recoveries, 105 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 553 (513 recoveries, 7 deaths)
