U.S. COVID-19 cases hit record daily high, with more than 87,100 cases

The United States has registered 87,164 new cases of COVID-19, CNN reported on Thursday evening citing the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

The number sets a new single-day case record since the beginning of the outbreak.

The U.S. has reported more than 8.94 million cases of COVID-19, with more than 228,000 deaths nationwide, ranking first globally in terms of death toll and caseload.
