China's Xinjiang reports 61 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recorded 61 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases on Saturday afternoon, local health authorities said at a press briefing on Saturday evening.

Of the new cases, 46 were recorded in Kashgar Prefecture's Shufu County. The others were from nearby Akto County in Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu.

Xinjiang now has 51 confirmed infections and a total of 222 asymptomatic cases.

According to the Xinjiang health commission, all residents of Shufu County, Shule County and the city of Kashgar, as well as people who came into contact with existing cases in a number of other counties in Kashgar Prefecture, have received a second round of nucleic acid testing.
