When a hungry monkey strolled through Fantiaoyu Village in NW China's Shaanxi Province, the village turned buoyant, but not surprised and definitely not alerted.
The golden snub-nosed monkey, a species under top-class state protection, made itself guest, feasting on farmers' harvest: corns and beans. It did not miss the bananas and apples in a resident's house.
While the scene might be fun to watch, the cause that brought the mammal to the village is not funny at all, according to the nearby wildlife protection center, which identified it as a stray male adult forced down from the mountain due to lack of food.
