Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday registered his information for the once-in-a-decade national census.

Xi met with census staff in Beijing and expressed appreciation for their efforts.

He also emphasized the importance of the census, saying that each survey has guided the central government in formulating socio-economic policies for the most populous country in the world.
