Li Yanjin was selected as the first secretary of poverty alleviation in Wawu Village, located in southwest China's Sichuan Province, which is more than 2,600 meters above sea level. The village has developed high mountain animal husbandry in recent years.

"When we first mobilized villagers to farm cattle and sheep, they were a little worried and not confident in this industry. So we visited every door to convince villagers to join in," said Li Yanjin.

At present, the village has planted more than 5,600mu (922 acres) of pasture and supported villagers to raise more than 1,000 cattle and 2,000 sheep. All villagers were lifted out of poverty by 2018.
