A stunning visitor center design that looks like a sleeping flamingo won the Abu Dhabi Flamingo Visitor Center Competition on October 5. /CFP

The competition was held by the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve in the United Arab Emirates capital of Abu Dhabi in partnership of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD). The wetland reserve is home to abundance of wildlife, with a featured flamingo population. /CFP

As required by the organizers, the ideal design of the visitor center must strike a balance between bold and sensitive aesthetics, fitting into the natural surroundings perfectly, while having iconic landmark features at the same time. /CFP
