The Algerian President's Office confirmed on Tuesday that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Tebboune's condition has gradually improved during his treatment in a hospital in Germany, the Office said in a statement.

Algeria recorded 405 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the total tally in the North African country to 58,979, including 1,980 deaths and 40,577 recoveries.
