As counting underway, Trump says 'ready for celebration'

As the votes were still being tallied, incumbent U.S. President and Republican nominee Donald Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday.

While claiming victory in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, he said was "ready for celebration."

"Frankly, we did win," Trump told his supporters at the White House.

"We were getting ready for a big celebration," he said, adding "We were winning everything."

Trump also took a moment for self-congratulation on his big win of the night in Florida.

But election results from some battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia, were still not clear and projections from all major networks showed Trump's still short of the 270 electoral votes required to win an election.

Earlier, his Democratic rival Joe Biden said during a brief speech in Wilmington, Delaware shortly after midnight that he is "on track to win this election."

Biden has racked up 18 states including his home state Delaware and big prizes California and New York, as well as the U.S. capital.
