Exhibitors at the third China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai have welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech, which he delivered via video link at the event's opening ceremony on Wednesday.

Ai Zhouping, president of German technology group Heraeus, said they were impressed by Xi's speech which sent an important signal to the world that China will open its market widely.

"As a German company (operating) in China, we have benefited a lot from China's opening-up. We will expand our investment in China, especially in the R&D area. We have great confidence in the Chinese market," he said.

Li Hongan, chairman of Shaanxi Blower Group, said, "We are very confident about the Chinese market. President Xi stressed further deepening international cooperation. We have some overseas companies around the world. It will be a great opportunity for us to develop our overseas market."

Meanwhile, CEO of Wirtgen China Ulrich Reichert told CGTN, "We find this a very good venue to introduce our products. We have factories in China producing already and we still import a lot of machines and this is a very good event to show the imported products."

Jens Hardenacke, managing director of Dematic China, said, "I think the Chinese market is the first market to really open up (after the pandemic). I really think that the Chinese government put the pandemic well under control. So it did very well with the first lockdown of Wuhan. After that, they found a way to open up and you see that the Chinese economy is stronger. We are almost back to normal now."
