Xinjiang's Kashgar Prefecture reports 6 new COVID-19 cases
Kashgar Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported six new COVID-19 cases by 9:00 p.m. BJT on Thursday, local health authorities told media.
All confirmed cases on Thursday were originally asymptomatic. Meanwhile, 15 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the same day.
So far, Xinjiang has reported a total of 78 confirmed cases, all from Kashgar Prefecture, and 339 asymptomatic cases.
Preliminary results of virus isolation and genome sequencing show that the current outbreak in Kashgar and July's flare-up in Urumqi are not related, authorities have said.
