Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of sympathy to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebbouneafter who was diagnosed with COVID-19.   

In the message, Xi said "I've learned Mr President has recently been admitted to hospital for treatment. I express my sympathy to you and wish you a fast recovery." 

The Algerian President's Office confirmed on Tuesday that Tebboune was diagnosed with COVID-19. His condition has gradually improved during his treatment in a hospital in Germany, the Office said in a statement.
