The 8th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo is being held at Cotai Expo at the Venetian in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) from November 6 to 8.

The three-day event, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by the Macao Travel Agency Association, brings together physical and virtual exhibitions in cloud series for the first time. It is also meant to push forward innovative cooperation and inspire new thinking for tourism and related industries.

The exhibition floor covers a total area of 22,000 square meters, accommodating over 660 booths and over 130 local exhibitors as well as some 350 on-site exhibitors from the rest of China. About 50 exhibitors have joined the expo virtually, mainly tourism offices and entities from different countries and regions.

Over 70 tourism businesses from across nine cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are occupying the "Greater Bay Area Tourism Street," offering residents a wealth of signature souvenir products from their destinations.

Other themed pavilions include MGTO Pavilion, the Pavilion of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, Zhuhai and Hengqin Pavilion and Congjiang Pavilion, according to Macao Government Tourism Office.

The "MAK MAK Pavilion" is making its debut, providing custom-built booths for local small and medium-sized enterprises. Mak Mak is the MGTO's mascot for the local tourism industry.

International buyers can discuss business opportunities with on-site exhibitors online, and local industry exhibitors also connect virtually with overseas professional buyers online.

The expo has adopted preventive measures against the coronavirus pandemic, requiring visitors to present the Macao Health Code and have their temperatures checked upon entry, as well as to wear masks and maintain a one-meter social distance. Venue disinfection, crowd management and other measures related to public catering are also in place, according to the Tourism Office.
