Special Counsel confirms Hatch Act investigation of Trump campaign
The United States Special Counsel has investigated the use of the White House as a "war room" by President Donald Trump's reelection campaign, after Congress member Bill Pascrell asked for an investigation into whether Trump used the executive branch of the White House for his campaign.
In the letter, Pascrell said that according to media reports, Trump and members of the executive branch are breaking the law on Election Day, suggesting that they are using space inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building as a campaign "war room."
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel has informed Pascrell that it is pursuing a federal probe into the Trump campaign's using the White House and Old Executive Office Building as a campaign command center and election day war room for running afoul of the Hatch Act.
