Coronavirus found on packaging of imported frozen product in N China
The novel coronavirus was found on a packaging of hairtail fish from India during a selective examination of imported frozen products in Taiyuan City, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, according to the city's COVID-19 prevention and control team.
Following the detection, the same batch of products has been sealed off and disinfection is underway for relevant products, environment, vehicles and persons.
So far, all the people concerned in Taiyuan have tested negative for the virus.
It's not the first time nor the first city in China to report detection of coronavirus on imported frozen products.
Last month, living novel coronavirus was isolated from the outer packaging of cold-chain food in east China's Qingdao City, which led to a local outbreak after the virus was carried by two port workers into a local hospital.
