Located on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River, the Yuelu Academy has witnessed the rise and fall of many dynasties. The academy was established in 976, 90 years before the Norman invasion of England. It was one of the most prestigious academies in the country, becoming a symbol of Chinese culture.
