Flamingos arrive at protected coastal area in Turkey

Updated 2020.11.11 13:45 GMT+8

Flamingos have arrived at the Koycegiz-Dalyan Special Environmental Protection Area in coastal Turkey to spend the winter. The area, including Koycegiz Lake and the Dalyan River that connects the lake with the Mediterranean Sea, was declared a protected area after plans to build a luxury hotel on the breeding grounds of an endangered sea turtle species sparked international criticism in the 1980s.
