This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Shanghai's Pudong New Area, a district east of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. After 30 years of development and opening-up, Pudong is not only the core area showcasing Shanghai's financial strength and has become a symbol of China's link with the world. Today the region is a powerhouse that contributes 1/80 of the country's GDP and 1/15 of its total imports and exports. Over 36,000 foreign-funded enterprises and headquarters of 350 multinational companies from 170 countries and regions gathered in the city for China's annual international expo. CGTN reporter Li Jianhua sits down with Enea Colombo, general manager of Icona, and James Macdonald, head and senior director of Research at Savills China, to discuss the business and finical power Pudong has brought to the city.
