President Xi Jinping has stressed in a recent instruction the importance of comprehensively improving the construction and development of the Peaceful China initiative and constantly enhancing people's sense of happiness and security.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, pointed out that the steady development of the Peaceful China initiative has made great contribution to promoting economic development, maintaining social stability and ensuring people's security.

The president stressed the importance of further modernizing social governance at the municipal level and comprehensively raising the levels of the Peaceful China initiative from the scientific, social, rule of law and intelligence aspects.

The CPC Central Committee highlighted ensuring development and security and continuing the Peaceful China initiative at a higher level in its proposals for formulating a new five-year development plan and long-range objectives.
