A scientist with China's submersible Fendouzhe's mission on Wednesday released a video footage of the bottom of the Mariana Trench the manned deep-sea vehicle reached in a historic dive.

The submersible on Tuesday dived 10,909 meters underwater and landed at the bottom of the world's deepest oceanic trench in the Pacific.

Peng Xiaotong, leader and principal researcher on the Tansuo-2, one of the two supporting ships for Tuesday's mission, showed viewers some video clips shot at the seabed.

Fendouzhe is China's latest self-developed submersible, which was launched in 2016 by scientists who previously developed manned submersibles Jiaolong and Shenhai Yongshi.
