China's deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver) dive into the Pacific along with two deep-sea camera sets. The new expedition came three days after it reached a record of 10,909 meters at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the world's deepest known trench. Released at 05:00 in the morning at its supporting ship Tansuo-1, Fendouzhe reached a depth of over 10,000 meters by 08:04. Canghai and Lingyun, the two camera sets, were successfully released from ship Tansuo-2. Canghai is capable of recording and transmitting 4K-ultra-high-definition videos in the deep sea, while Lingyun is a detachable unit that can land on the seabed and provide multi-angled illumination. The manned submersible landed at the bottom at around 10:43, with three experts on board.
