A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has rejected the criticism from the UK, the EU and Australia about Hong Kong government's disqualification of four opposition lawmakers, saying it is a demonstration of double standards.

The Hong Kong government has accused the four people of endangering China's national security. 

The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress ruled on Wednesday that the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has the power to disqualify lawmakers without going through the courts if they endanger national security.
