Dengkou County in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has welcomed tens of thousands of migratory birds on their way to wintering grounds.

The county, which has over 160 natural lakes, is an important stopover for the seasonal travelers. The local government has also been taking measures to mitigate the desertification process and restore the wetland environment.
