Chinese President Xi Jinping on November 17 attended the 12th BRICS summit via video link in Beijing at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In his speech, President Xi called for enhanced cooperation to offset the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Strengthening cooperation, economic recovery and public health in the aftermath of COVID-19 are high on the agenda of the summit.
