Tokyo raises coronavirus alert to highest level

Tokyo raised its alert level for the spread of coronavirus infections to the highest of four stages on Thursday after daily cases rose to new record highs in the Japanese capital.
The announcement was made at a coronavirus panel meeting of the metropolitan government.
