Chinese Proficiency Competition 'Chinese Bridge' held online for the first time

The COVID-19 pandemic has made many international events turn online. The 19th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students has no exception.

The virus didn't curb students' passion all over the world to show their talent in Chinese culture. Hundreds of thousands of international college students signed up for the competition. After rounds of tests, a total of 136 candidates from 110 countries entered the finalist competition.

College students from all over the world are attending the 19th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition through the Internet. /CMG

The candidates are running for the champion through more rounds of tests. They attend the competition totally online, and judges from Beijing will also give their comments through the Internet.

The "Chinese Bridge" is an annual competition aimed at arousing students' enthusiasm in various countries to learn Chinese and strengthen the world's understanding of the Chinese language and culture.

Since the start of the competition in 2002, it has attracted more than 1.4 million young students from more than 150 countries. This year marks the first time that the competition has been held online.

Up till now, over 4,000 colleges globally have set up courses to teach Chinese. Nearly 200 million international people are learning Chinese.
