In the northern foothills of the Qilian Mountains lies Sunan, the only Yugur autonomous county in China. Not far from the heart of the county is a famous snow-capped peak called Bars, which means "tiger" in the Yugur language. As a symbol of splendor and nobility, Bars Peak is considered sacred by the Yugurs.
