A brown bear was captured on video wandering into a checkpoint in Altun Mountain National Nature Reserve in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Because of snowfall in the region, which is at an elevation of 4,500 meters, rodents, an important source of food for brown bears, have begun their hibernation. Short of food, the bear thus showed up at the checkpoint at night but ran away after being chased by three dogs guarding the facility.
