China's meteorological authority issued an orange alert for northeast China and advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities as heavy snow, rain and plummeting temperatures swept across the region on November 19, 2020

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

Heilongjiang has been hit hardest by the snow, and it has been snowing in the province since Tuesday, creating, "Game of Thrones"-like scenes.

In preparation for the continued snow, authorities have strengthened inspection and maintenance of roads, railways, power and communications lines.
