Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has underscored policy continuity, effectiveness and sustainability to spur greater vitality of market entities, promote stable economic recovery and sustained growth, as well as constantly improve people's livelihoods.

Li made the remarks while presiding over a symposium on the economic situation, via video link, attended by local government officials on Friday.

Li began by hailing the significant achievement of China's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing economic recovery that has exceeded expectations.

Noting the situation at home and abroad remains grim and uncertain, Li urged officials to adapt policies based on the real situation of the market as well as people's livelihoods.

He also told local governments to create more jobs, spur consumption and expand effective investment as measures to expand domestic demand, while securing employment.

Reiterating China's commitment to reform and opening-up, Li also called on officials to grasp the timing of the signing up of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to explore new space for international cooperation.
