Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the seventh World Internet Conference (WIC), which opened Monday in the town of Wuzhen in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Xi pointed out that the internet has played an important role in promoting economic recovery, thanks to the wide application of telemedicine, online education and remote working.
In today's world, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is imminent, driving the rapid development of digital technology, Xi said.
He stressed that China is willing to work with other countries to seize the historical opportunities of the information revolution, cultivate new drivers of development, strengthen digital cooperation and cyber security, and build a community of shared future in cyberspace.
The WIC, one of China's highest-level tech summits, has been held annually since 2014.
