Robots are the main chefs and servers at a middle school in Shanghai that has introduced an intelligent canteen system to increase food safety. Canteens on school campuses are high-risk areas for contracting COVID-19 because students gather at close quarters. The robotic chefs are intended to minimize the risks. They do the job of human servers and cook while a conveyor belt delivers the dishes on offer.

The robot puts the ingredients prepared by catering staff onto the stove to be cooked based on preset programs, and then places them on the conveyor belt. The kitchen used to require seven workers to function properly, but now it only needs two operators.
