The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has spent 310 billion HK dollars to deal with the pandemic over the past six months, Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Wednesday while outlining measures to fight COVID-19 in her annual policy address.
Lam said 2020 has presented the world with an unprecedented public health crisis and Hong Kong has remained vigilant in the fight against the pandemic. She highlighted the support of the central government to help the region overcome the economic recession.
Lam said the central government supports the gradual resumption of travel between Hong Kong and south China's Guangdong Province without the need for compulsory quarantine.
The central government will also reserve some vaccines developed or produced in the Chinese mainland for Hong Kong residents, she added.
