Chinese authorities are looking to brand under-construction culture parks themed around famous domestic historical events and scenic spots – and the public is being enlisted to help.

The Leading Group Office for the Construction of National Culture Parks on Thursday began to solicit logo designs for national culture parks for the Great Wall, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Yellow River and the Long March, a historic military expedition in the mid-1930s.

Last year, China issued a plan on the building of these venues, which are expected to be completed by 2023. The logos are meant to create a recognizable visual image for the parks.

The submissions should conform to national standards and take into consideration the cultural and regional characteristics of the themes inspiring the construction of the parks. The motifs should also highlight innovation, public welfare and openness, as well as have an international appeal.

Applications are welcome until January 15, 2021, after which the designs would be reviewed by a community of experts who will choose shortlisted works before holding a logo release ceremony.
