Premier Li to attend SCO conference, co-chair regular meeting with Russian PM

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will attend the 19th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing on November 30, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian announced at a press briefing on Thursday.

Zhao hailed the fruitful results of November's SCO Summit, adding that the organization shoulders the important mission of safeguarding regional peace and stability while improving national development and prosperity.

The upcoming meeting, hosted by India and held online, is an important activity under the SCO framework, Zhao said. Premier Li is expected to reach more consensuses on cooperation and take more concrete action to push forward the Belt and Road Initiative and better integrate the regional cooperation initiative into member states' national development strategies.

The meeting will facilitate connectivity and economic recovery within the region, said Zhao.

On December 2, Li and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will hold the 25th regular meeting of the Chinese and Russian heads of government via video conference, Zhao also said.

The two sides will discuss cooperation on epidemic prevention and cooperation in various fields, according to the spokesperson.

Zhao added the regular meeting is going to inject more impetus into bilateral relations between China and Russia and guide the common development and rejuvenation of the two countries.
