Two baby Hainan Eld's deer made their public debut at the Chimelong Safari Park of Guangzhou City in south China's Guangdong Province.

An endemic species from south China's island province of Hainan, the Hainan Eld's deer have sharp visual and auditory senses and are good at jumping and running, according to safari staff.

Hainan Eld's deer were previously on the brink of extinction due to hunting and habitat loss. Its population was reduced to less than 50 at one point, however great protection efforts in recent years have helped the number rise to over 1,000.
